30 Anchor Tattoos that are Cute, On-Trend, and will make You want to Be on a Beach!

An article that will hopefully help you to avoid getting a terrible tattoo by Rachel Williams

Do Anchor Tattoos have a Meaning of any real Substance?

Well, it actually turns out they do. Traditionally, anchor tattoos were used by the US Navy to symbolise when a person had crossed the Atlantic Ocean (interesting, huh?). This is possibly a good tattoo design to get if you have someone close to you who was connected with the sea. Maybe your father or grandfather was a fisherman, in the merchant navy, or just loved his fisn n' chips on a Friday!

Could also be a neat idea if you are a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) and feel this connection to the sea yourself. Anchor tattoos signify 'being grounded' and they represent strength. I like these tattoos on girls as they are small, and the delicate designs look pretty.

The main thing with any ink is to make sure it means something to you, basically it can never be a bad tattoo if it has meaning... at least you would hope so right! Please take your time choosing and don't end up with an awful tattoo.

Thin linework looks fab! Thick not so much (for me personally).

Behind your ear, wrist and ankle seem to be some of the most popular placements.
